Older Main Line homes might be affected by new remodel procedures created by the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA requires lead training, certification, and safe work practice requirements for contractors involved in remodels on homes built prior to 1987. Their goal is to clear the public health uneasiness of lead poisoning by the year 2010.

Lead is a highly toxic metal that was used for several years in paint. It could trigger a variety of health problems and kids under the age of six are most at risk since their nervous systems are not yet fully developed. Contact Main Line real estate with any concerns with regards to lead in your home.

The blueprints are drawn and the windows have been picked out. It is time to remodel your Main Line home. However, be careful, the value of your house could be lowered by one mistake.

Over expanding has got to be avoided. Your house may be the nicest on the block, but when it comes time, it will be much harder to sell. Also, do not try to make your home something it is not. Leave kitchens as kitchens and bathrooms as bathrooms.

The overall style or architectural design shouldn't be adjusted either. Be sure to budget appropriately for your remodel. Time and money is usually under budgeted by 20-30 percent. Unless you're an expert, bring in someone to do the job.

Be sure to maintain all upkeep. Clean the windows regularly, keep the driveway clean, and the shrubs nice and neat. The remodel of your Main Line home will be a success by sticking to these tips.

Make sure you do your research on local codes and rules before you accuse a neighbor of breaking any laws. Then, if they do not address your interests, you can bring the city in.

A mediator can generally settle any arguments and the courts and police should only be used as a last hope. You should be able to get along with your neighbor if you maintain an open mind.
